Heavy Duty Strap Hinge

We built 5x9 doors using 2x6's, 2x10's and cedar plywood, added big windows, so they ended up weighing about 150 pounds each. These heavy duty strap hinges worked perfectly for holding them in place.

I used these on a set of very big, heavy wooden gates that my dad and I rebuilt last year and so far they are working very well.These strap hinges replaced much smaller flimsier 8” inch strap hinges, which we originally used to replace the non-functioning handful of mismatched butt hinges that were on the gate when we moved in.I contacted the seller to ask some questions before buying because I was on a budget by that point having already spent way more than expected on this project and I didn’t want to waste any more money on hardware that didn’t suit my needs. The seller responded very promptly and was quite friendly and helpful. I was still concerned that these were narrower than the flimsy straps I had to replace, so I ordered 1 hinge first so that I could see it for myself and make sure the quality was what I needed.I decided To order more of these within seconds of opening the package. These hinges are thick, heavy, and the bearing area is very very sturdy. Its not a wimpy pin with metal bent around it like on cheap hinges, it is welded and capped and I added pictures so you can see for yourself. Point is, these are very heavy duty and they look like they will last quite awhile.I also like that the holes are so big and they tell you what width lag screws to use but the length depends on your application. I used 3” lag screws and they are holding up beautifully. The gate now opens and closes much easier. I wouldnt be surprised if these hinges outlast the concrete fence/wall that the gate posts are attached to.

Great product, heavy duty hinge that looks great on my barn doors! My doors are extremely heavy hand built barn doors and they swing effortlessly on these hinges.

These hinges are really heavy duty.I am using them on 9 ft. swing open door and they are better than i expected.

Love these Hinges.When we put up our new 6 foot wood fence, we wanted something better than the strap type hinges we had previously used, which always seemed to sag. I looked around on Amazon and found these 1/4" hinges, they are just what I had been looking for..We used 3/8” x 5” stainless lag screws to mount them to the 4” x 4” post (through the fence board and stringer); they were easy to install and work smoothly. When we cut the stringers loose on the gate (on the latch side) there was no sag that we could notice. Guess time will tell if they are going to sag.These hinges look nicer than the strap type we had from the local home improvement store, and are so much thicker. It is also nice that they came in a set of three, and for a great price. I am very happy with this purchase.

Hinges are decorative, robust and easy to install. They are by far better hinges than what you can buy in the big stores. I will be ordering more. Thanks. Update-They were install in December 2017, On May the small gate that is used the most, had lower grommet was torn out by opening and closing. Contact supplier, gave replacement and installed in May. Now in July the same lower hinge grommet is repeating on tearing that lower grommet again. I now think their is a engineering problem with these hinges. Update 2, replaced all grommets with other ones and problem solved. It's 2021 with no problem. I will increase product review.

Bought these for very heavy shed doors. Very sturdy.

The finish was not super good, but I shot them with some gloss rustoleum and they look good now. They are holding an 80lb+ shed door with no issues so far. I would buy these again if I had another heavy door to hang. The little surface defects are not enough to say no to these.

These solidly built hinges. I bought them for a heavy wood gate that I had built. The gate probably weights about 150 lbs. They had no problem supporting the weight and look very nice.

I'm building two fold-away work benches. These hinges are heavy duty and will hold my bench without issue. FYI. The Bach table top is made from planed 2x4's 24"w 60"L it weighs over 100lbs. I figured if it can hold a barn door, it will have no problem hinging my bench. Well made!

Great product ! Nice and heavy .

This is certainly a heavy duty hings for heavy barn doors and it is just what I needed. One minor design flaw is that the two parts of the hinge do not lay flat. The strap side is about an 1/8" higher, so that the door does not lay flush with the corner post. May not be an issue for you, but I had already installed door jambs that expected the door to be flush. Now I have to redo the door jambs.

Like the look. Not sure if mine was defective but to be called heavy duty I was surprised it broke within 6 months with normal use.

Can't say enough about these hinges. Very heavy duty great look carry a ton of weight. Perfect for my application on a 7ft by 4ft Heavy garden gate. Gate weighs about 140 pounds these hinges handle that with ease. Did I say that they look Great also, Very Nice.

I bought several sets for garage barn doors. They do look good! These feel heavy duty but one unfortunately snapped at the hinge and another locked up soon after install. I took that one off and tried to loosen it without success. We'll see how long the others last.
